Orchesis began at the University of Alberta in 1964, founded by Dorothy Harris. Inspired by dance educator Margaret H’Doubler, it brought people together through movement, creativity, and a belief in dance as part of a full life. Today, Orchesis Dance Society continues that spirit as an independent Edmonton community organization.
