We believe dance can be part of a full life, at any stage. Orchesis is a community of people who keep choosing to move, create, and grow together.
A shared beginning.

Dorothy Harris founded Orchesis at the University of Alberta in 1964, inspired by the work of dance educator Margaret H’Doubler. At its heart was a belief in movement as a source of creativity, wellbeing, and connection.
Today, Orchesis Dance Society is an independent Edmonton not-for-profit. We offer adult dancers opportunities to learn, explore choreography, and take part in performance.
Our work draws on contemporary jazz, modern dance, and the perspectives of the artists and community members who join us.
